Field Technician

Entry to senior level Field Technicians to install, program, maintain, and repair fire alarm, access control, tele/data, paging, intercom, A/V, camera, and intrusion systems on commercial projects across Montana.

Full-time Montana — Missoula, Bozeman, Kalispell, Helena, or Billings

About the role

Systems Northwest is looking for Entry level to Senior level Field Technicians for positions located in Missoula, Bozeman, Kalispell, Helena, and Billings, Montana.

The role consists of field installations including cable pulling, device installation, head-end trim, programming, modification, maintenance, and repair on Fire Alarm Systems, Access Control, Tele/Data, Overhead Paging, Intercom, Professional A/V, Camera Systems, and Intrusion Detection (IDS). The work breaks down to roughly 50–60% cable pulling, 30% device and cable termination, and 10% programming and testing, on both new construction and existing facilities.

You must live within 25 miles of your selected city — this will be considered your home base to service and install systems within that area, along with travel throughout the state. All positions require travel throughout the State of Montana to satisfy project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support customers as needed by providing technical assistance, on-site troubleshooting, and hands-on maintenance and repair of all fire alarm and low-voltage systems.
  • Install new systems and keep accurate records and time.
  • Work unsupervised and alone on projects and service orders.
  • Travel weekly throughout the State of Montana; the position requires overtime and on-call availability.

What we’re looking for

  • Customer-service-oriented personality with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, with basic computer skills and electrical theory comprehension. We will train qualified applicants in needed electrical theory and specific programming software.
  • Strong attention to detail — quality installations are a high priority at Systems Northwest.

Desired skills and expertise

  • NICET Level I or II in fire alarm systems.
  • Notifier and Fire-Lite fire alarm systems installation and programming.

Additional systems experience is desired but not required

  • Digital Watchdog / Pelco / Axis IP cameras and NVRs
  • Continuum by Schneider Electric, Card Access Xpert, or Honeywell access control
  • Valcom / Telecor intercom systems
  • Nurse call systems
  • Fiber optic terminations (fusion splicing)
  • IP networking ability and understanding
  • Crestron control systems
  • Notifier / Fire-Lite fire alarm systems

Compensation & benefits

Hourly pay between $22–38 per hour based off of relevant experience and location of employment.

Typical hours are 7 AM to 5 PM. A waiting period may apply to certain benefits. Wages and benefits are provided and will be discussed with qualified applicants only.

Hiring process

Qualified applicants will be considered on a 3-month probation period. Customer service and communication skills are a must, and attention to detail will be evaluated during the probation period.
